Starting a new online magazine is a scary old business. Take
it from me. We started StoryWorld as a community project, offering creative
writing classes to our local town. Our ambitions soon grew, and we found that
we wanted to share our passion for writing with a wider audience, so the
StoryWorld online magazine was born. We wanted the magazine to be an essential
read, to be something you put in your favourites and read avidly, so we made a
commitment: We’ll be posting every single day, from now until the day we pop
our clogs and shuffle off this mortal coil.
Pretty ballsy claim, huh?
If you like writing, then we’ll have a series of posts to
interest and inspire you. There will be a weekly editorial, collections of
wisdom from famous writers, and a series of articles detailing tricks, tips and
hints to help you develop your creativity. We’ll be looking at the writing that
inspires us, showing you the best practice in books, poetry, TV, films and more.
And we’ll be talking to the best authors, editors, movers and shakers in the
literary world, quizzing them on their methods, and discovering what makes them
tick.
At StoryWorld, we believe that half the journey to becoming
a writer is discovering the way that you write best, so each post is designed
to give you an insight into how to develop your craft.
We hope you can come with us on this voyage of discovery, if
only to watch us slowly have a meltdown as we frantically put together a post
for the day, and giggle at us as we get behind on our schedule. Anyway, what I
think I’m trying to say is-
“Welcome to StoryWorld. Your story starts here...”
Editorial is a series of posts
from StoryWorld Editors, containing random thoughts and musings. All views are
our own, and please leave a comment below.
