Festival Frenzy with Lottie Lipton!

It's busy busy busy over the next few months!

I'm doing loads of school visits and a few signings. I'm also off to some festivals, which I'm really looking forward to! I'll be travelling down to Penzance in Cornwall for the 9th July, where I'll be doing a workshop I call 'Making Mysteries'. Have a look at the official website here: http://www.pzlitfest.co.uk/event/making-mysteries-a-lottie-lipton-creative-writing-session/

One event I'm really looking forward to is The International Agatha Christie Festival in my home town of Torquay! I'll be doing two sessions: 12th Sept at Torre Abbey, where I'll be reading from my books and doing a fun interactive activity with the children attending (with prizes!) and the 19th Sept at Torquay Museum! This will be a reading, fun tour of the museum and signing books.

More info as I get it. Metcalf out. :¬)

Independent Bookseller's Week

#indiebookweek @IndieBound_UK

It's soon to be Independent Bookseller's Week, where we all celebrate our local independent bookshop.

It's a real asset to have a bookshop in your town, as it is one of the places where everyone can go and look, browse, talk to the staff. We're particularly lucky in our town as the bookshop was saved by the local community and is now staffed by volunteers. It is somewhere you can go to see the latest books, get recommendations on what to read next and find out about the rest of the activities in your area. So let's give a big HOORAY! For local bookshops everywhere.

I'll be doing school visits to spread the word about our local bookshops and doing a signing this coming Saturday in The Torbay Bookshop, Paignton, Devon at 11am.

Hope to see you there!

Drumroll please.........

Ta-dah! I'm so please to reveal the cover of my new book, The Curse of the Cairo Cat. The illustrations are by the brilliant Rachelle Panagarry and the cover has been worked on tirelessly by the art department at A&C Black. I love it - what do you think?

A Story For You

#flashfiction

I’m starting something. I wanted a way to treat you lovely people and to inject a little fun into your screentime, so I’ve set up a newsletter called A Story For You.

Every week, you’ll get an email with a little story written by me. It’ll go out on Fridays, so you can read it at your leisure over the weekend, maybe with a cup of tea and the cat on your lap, or even while you’re out walking the dog, sifting through the emails on your phone.

The stories will be short. You can call them short stories, some you can call flash fiction, some even microfiction. They are guaranteed to vary in genre, tone, quality, and length but all will be PG in nature; no attempts to offend or shock.

This is my little way of sending out a little bundle of good wishes to anyone who wants them.

Sign up at the link here: http://eepurl.com/be4oob and you’ll get a completely free short story every week, starting May 1st, and lasting at least for the first year! Pass it on, tell your friends and enjoy.

A Story For You. From Me.

NEWS: The Hemingwrite

#hemingwrite #writing
This is the thing I've been waiting for all this time. Beautiful isn't it? What is it, you say? Why it's the perfect distraction-free writing tool, The Hemingwrite!  This is the blurb:

The Hemingwrite is a minimalist digital typewriter for distraction free writing composition. It combines the simplicity of a typewriter with modern technology like an electronic paper screen and cloud backups to create the best possible writing experience. It is designed to do one thing only but do it exceptionally well. Since there is no email, Facebook, browser, or menus, you are able to stay in your creative groove and finally get your writing done!

Enough said, I want one. Actually, I need one. If proof be needed, I'm supposed to be writing my book right now!

Help the Hemingwrite team out by voting for them in the SXSW Paypal Duel: https://www.paypal-sxswduel.com/
