NEWS: Are you a book snob?

From IO9:
Of course, your own taste in reading material is beyond reproach — but those Twilight fans, they're just stuffing their brains with garbage. And meanwhile, those literary snobs are judging you for liking military science fiction, without even having read any. If this is you or someone you know, then you ought to read Laura Miller's essay on literary judgments.
The piece goes on to link to the aforementioned essay on Salon.com which is required reading for anyone who might think they are a snob when it comes to their literary delights. Click through and take a peek.

Done that? Good.

So are you a book snob? Do you know someone who is? Does it infuriate you? Or, y'know, meh?

  1. I think your Twilight example it spot on. I remember seeing a webcomic that parodied the first book and replaced Bella with basically a blob called "Pants" because the author said she was a non-character that any teen could slip on and wear. What I saw was a girl who repeatedly made different choices than I would, and what are we if not the choices we make? I also think the writer was a cynical 20 something male who had never been in love, and that was really his issue all along. He made fun of some of the language that most resonated with me as a newliwed and that I thought Twilight hit spot on.
