Having said a few weeks ago that conferences and networking are the best thing to do for your writing career, I've somehow not followed my own advice and not attended this year's London Book Fair. Instead, I'm sat at a desk watching tonnes of tweets come in, watching people having a great time and getting the contacts that I should be getting. Ho hum. You live and learn.
LBF is the best place in the UK to get an overview of the publishing industry. In recent years it's become a great place to go for authors, with loads of advice about self-publishing. For jobbing writers, it's a place to find all those publishers and agents who mysteriously haven't returned your emails...
If you're at LBF, feel free to tweet me (@storyworlddevon or @metcalfwriter)and gloat at how you're there and I'm not. It may motivate me to get there next year.
